Petrolato

El petrolato es también llamado jalea de petróleo y se utiliza frecuentemente en productos de cuidado personal como un agente hidratante.

Es un subproducto del refinado de petróleo y tiene un punto de fusión cercano a la temperatura corporal. Al ser aplicado sobre la piel, forma una capa hidrófuga que crea una barrera efectiva contra la evaporación, “reteniendo la humedad” de esta forma.

También se puede utilizar como lubricante o ingrediente en lubricantes.
